My idea comes from the concept of the time difference, which makes connecting and communicating with people in different time zones quite difficult, especially for those in intimate relationships. Staring at the digits or the hands on the clock face is depressing sometimes. That is why I want to express the time, the ruthless time in a more gentle and warm way.
I wish to build a meditative vibe platform for multiple users to visualize the time and time difference in a less tensioned way. The users input the place they are and another place they want to know about, then OpenWeatherMap will pull out the time of sunrise and sunset on that day and upload to the server-side. By simulating time passing by from sunrise to sunset with a dynamic color transition, I hope to visualize that time flows at the same rate but with different starting and end points. The following UI is what I expect my work will be like eventually.
I think the difficult parts for me to complete this project are dealing with the multiple user’s data on server-side and extracting and applying data from API.

There Are No Hours or Days in Coronatime conveys an opinion that time becomes vague during the pandemic period. Time is no longer measured by days, weeks, or months; it blends together. And we are overwhelmed by the distorted products of coronatine, geography, race, class and etc.
Milan is no longer five hours ahead of New York, but several weeks ahead.
Feedbacks:
After sharing my idea with classmates and instructor in class, I got some useful feedbacks.
- Allow users to select the locations from a scrolling menu instead of typing in.
- Mark the time scale somewhere on the image
- Display username? (not sure about the necessity of this function yet)
- Discuss with Tom and Jeff about “TIME”.
