Animation Progress:
This week my partner and I worked hard on creating background images and several assets for each scene. Here are the two key background images that we will use in our animation.
To enhance the main character’s animate performance, I layered out the main character according to different parts of its body.
I applied the parallax technique to create a 3D effect on the background and manipulate position, scale, and opacity to create this short video as a part of the entire animation. This is my first draft and I will do more rendering later.
Reading Material Response:
I really enjoy reading about the history of art and languages. The author uses comics to explain the comics, which is quite unique and interesting. Words and images are equally significant for the comics to describe senses and emotions. One sentence that touches me a lot is “It’s considered normal in the society for children to combine words and pictures, so long as they grow out of it.” Reading this book, I am impressed that the comics are much more beyond combining pictures and text, it expresses the art of language and illustration.
This book also taught me useful techniques, such as 7 transition, especially aspect to aspect transition. I also learned that ambiguous storytelling helps stimulate the audience’s imagination, which I believe is very useful to apply to my future animation works.
